The Spring Concert, originally scheduled for Thursday, May 16th, has been changed to Tuesday, May 14th.
Several students from advanced band will be performing with Orchestra on May 9th. All students performing with Orchestra will receive a letter this week.
Applications are now being accepted for this year's Band Scholarship. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a current band senior who plans to continue their study of music, which may include music performance, music education or music therapy (you DO NOT have to major in music). This scholarship replaces the L. Hebert Cox Perpetual Challenge Scholarship which ended several years ago.
Applications are due NO LATER THAN Monday, May 13, 2019 at 3:30 PM. No consideration will be given to late entries.

Senior night is next week! Following is the information for the halftime presentation of seniors:
The marching band will perform two songs. We will then present our seniors. The marching band will enter the field area for warm up at seven minutes in the second quarter on the game clock. Senior escorts should assemble by the field gate where I will meet them when the game clock is at two minutes. I will then lead the escorts to the sideline where they will wait during the marching band performance. After the performance, seniors will come forward for presentation, and senior parents will walk from the home sideline onto the field to escort their seniors. Seniors and escorts will step forward when their name is called and a photograph will be taken. Mr. Brown will review this procedure again on Friday night after the meal at 5:15.
Senior night information forms will be submitted online this year. This is the information that will be read when the seniors are presented. Online forms must be submitted by November 1st at 5pm – NO EXCEPTIONS!!! There is a QR code sign up in the band room, or you can use the following link:
Seniors that are being honored are only allowed two guests/escorts for free entry. These names should be submitted to Mr. Brown by fifth period on Thursday, November 1st. Anyone whose name is not submitted will have to pay $8 at the gate. Remember...two complimentary guests only!
Spectators will not be permitted to enter the field area to take photos. There will be official photographers on the field that will be taking pictures.
Due to 10/5 being a Teacher Workday, we will attend the Decatur game as a Pep Band. We will NOT be marching at halftime, but will be performing stands music. Please meet at NS at 5 pm. All students and chaperones should enter through the loading dock. Make sure to eat prior to coming to NS
This is a message from the athletic director at Decatur High School:
Marching band exhibition is Saturday, September 22 at Cambridge HS, 2845 Bethany Bend, Milton, GA 30004
- Students will meet at NS at 1:00 to rehearse the show before leaving for Cambridge.
- Dinner will be provided at exhibition, make sure students eat prior to arriving at NS
- We will have water, but bring a water bottle for rehearsals. It will be HOT!
- Chaperones will meet at NS at 3 pm.
- All students and chaperones should enter through the loading dock doors.
Tickets for spectators are $5 per person and free for under 5. You can purchase tickets ahead of time at www.fultonperformingarts.org.
Exhibition starts at 5:45 pm. The Spartans will take the field at 6:10 pm. There is also a link, at the event website, to live stream the event if you can’t make it!
The marching band has been asked to perform at the Sandy Springs Flag Football opening day on Sunday, September 9 at Morgan Falls Park. We will need to arrive around 4:30 PM for a 5PM performance. We should be done by 6PM. Please let me know student availability by returning the response sheet sent home with students or by emailing me directly. If we have enough people to perform then I will send more details later on.
We have some optional band gear for 2018 in addition to the marching band T-shirt that is included with your Marching Band dues. These are additional Band items that students/parents/families can purchase. There will be samples for students to look at during the week of band camp. The deadline to order is August 1, in order to get them in by the first football game. This is a great way to create a presence for the band throughout the school!
