Hello All NSCHS Music Families!!
The Music Faculty at North Springs Charter High School is excited to announce that we will be taking a department performance trip this year! As many of you have probably heard, we will perform and compete the 2016 OrlandoFest Music Competition at Universal Studios Orlando. The dates for our trip are Thursday, March 10th - Sunday, March 13th, 2016. (Thursday and Friday are student holidays so students won’t miss any school.) We will depart NSCHS at 10:30 am on Thursday and return to NSCHS by 8 pm on Sunday. We’ve included the itinerary with the information letter so that you will know what your children will be doing on this amazing and educational trip. Your students will have the opportunity to compete with and against Vocal and Instrumental groups from all over the United States. They will also have the opportunity to have a music clinic with highly reputable, nationally recognized music clinicians and educators. After the performances are over, students will be treated to a fun filled awards ceremony like no other. Along with this performance opportunity, the students will get to spend time in both of the Universal parks as well.
We are working with the amazing Kitty Brightman and American Odyssey Tours on planning this trip. The total cost of the trip is $555.00 per person. This price includes:
A payment schedule is included with the information letter (and copied below) so that you can put the dates on your calendar. As part of the trip planning process, the students will be participating in several fund raisers to help reduce the amount of out of pocket spending for the families. It is also important to say that we will need Chaperones for this trip.
DEPOSITS are due on Friday, November 6th. Checks should be made payable to "North Springs Charter High School". We will accept cash, checks or money orders for payment. Unfortunately, there is no credit card payment option. The payment schedule has been divided into 5 payments: $115 for the deposit and $110 for the remaining four (4) payments. The cost of the trip is determined on 40 paid persons per bus. This can be a mix of students and chaperones.
Note***As part of the OrlandoFest Trip, we will also have a group T-Shirt made for everyone to wear while down in the parks (this helps in identifying our students and looks great to see team spirit at the awards ceremony). The cost of the shirt will be $12. (Image of shirt will be revealed at a later date). Every person traveling will need a shirt, but payment can be turned in now or later.
We plan on having 2 performing ensembles, one from choir and one combined Band/Orchestra ensemble. We would love to take as many students as possible and chaperones. Please consider joining us for this amazing trip opportunity. We are excited about having the chance to show the rest of the U.S. what North Springs music is all about!! There will be a parent info meeting in February to further discuss itinerary, trip details, and general information.
