The Music Faculty at North Springs Charter High School is excited to announce that we will be taking a department performance trip this year! As many of you have probably heard, we will participate in the 2018 Disney “You’re Instrumental” and “Disney Sings” music workshops. These events are each 2.5 hour workshops that allows students to work with a Disney musician/conductor and learn music from a feature Disney Animated film. At the conclusion of the workshop, students will record their work in real time as an accompaniment to the film it is from.
The dates for our trip are Friday, February 16 - Monday, February 19, 2018. We will depart NSCHS around 2pm on Thursday (Feb. 15) and return to NSCHS between 10 and 11pm on Monday (Feb. 19). We’ve included a sample itinerary in this letter so that you will know what your children will be doing on this amazing and educational trip. Along with this performance opportunity, the students will get to spend time in all four of the Disney amusement parks as well.
We are working with the amazing Kitty Brightman and American Odyssey Tours on planning this trip. The total cost of the trip is $750.00 per person. This price includes round trip Travel (charter bus service), hotel accommodations for 4 evenings (students 4 to a room, adults 2 to a room), and all meals (except for the 2 dinners on travel days), Admission to all 4 amusements parks, Workshop Registration, trip t-shirt and Gratuities. A payment schedule is also included in this letter so that you can put the dates on your calendar. As part of the trip planning process, the students will be participating in several fund raisers to help reduce the amount of out of pocket spending for the families. It is also important to say that we will need Chaperones for this trip. We are also offering an online payment option if that will be easier for you.
DEPOSITS are due on Friday, October 27th, 2017. The trip payment schedule has been divided into 4 payments of $187.50 each. If you need to break the payments down in to smaller payments every other week instead of one large one each month, we can look at options as well for that. The cost of the trip is determined on 40 paid persons per bus. This can be a mix of students and chaperones.
We plan on having 2 performing ensembles, one from each discipline Instrumental (Band/Orchestra) and Vocal (choir). We would love to take as many students as possible and chaperones. There will be a parent info meeting in November to further discuss itinerary, trip details, fundraisers, and general information.
